Bridging the engineering gap

April 29, 2017

This week saw the culmination of the Prep II Bridge Building Project. The boys went through the whole design process with their bridges from the initial brief through research, planning, design, construction then finally to testing and evaluation.

The boys did a superb job constructing their bridges from a wide range of materials including Lego, wood, chain and K’nex. Through this, and their tower building project, Prep II have developed a basic understanding of engineering principles and it has inspired some of them to consider careers in engineering and architecture.

In a VERY tight competition for the best bridge, as judged by Mr Shaw, third was Theo, second was Will, and first was James with Morgan winning best K’nex bridge. Mr Shaw praised their production of truly suspended bridges and their use of a variety of materials.
