On the 1st March, The Grange, Monmouth Preparatory School, celebrated St David’s Day with a traditional Eisteddfod.
Pupils, family and staff enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of music, poetry and singing at the Blake Theatre, with boys representing their Houses in categories as diverse as models of daffodils, dragons and castles, home-made Welsh Cakes and a host of music events.
In the solo instrumental categories there were the following winners:
Woodwind – Ben
Piano – Nyasha
Brass – Abraham
Strings – Matthew
Percussion – George
The winning House song was by Grenville, who also became overall House Music Eisteddfod winners.
The school welcomed Kathryn Benson-Dugdale as the Adjudicator. She took the time to give helpful feedback to each of the entrants and congratulated all of the boys on their talent and hard work.
