ICT

ICT at The Grange

The ICT room is an outstanding purpose built facility within our new school. It is very well resourced, with enough computers for every child in each class as well as being stocked with Floor Roamers, scanners, digital cameras, digital microscopes and video cameras.  Each classroom has its own interactive whiteboard, computer and printer and each subject has a wide range of software, both for teaching purposes and for pupils to use independently to consolidate their learning or extend it further.

ICT is used throughout all areas of the curriculum. In addition all pupils receive one lesson of ICT a week with the ICT Coordinator.  In these lessons they learn a wide variety of skills as set out in the curriculum overview below.  As their ability evolves they are able to use their skills within other subjects to reinforce and extend their education further.  With optional clubs, both at lunchtime and after school, the pupils have plenty of opportunity to try out new ideas and take their skills to an even higher level.

ICT is used as a key tool in challenging our able and talented boys.  Each year a group of boys are picked to challenge themselves further still.  In the last three years Grange Advanced Skills projects have included designing a website on Victorian Inventions, creating a program to automate Sports Day scores and the researching and making a DVD on the history of the school.
