Entry

The Grange caters for boys aged 7 to 11 years of age who are working at a secure level for their age and who are likely to flourish in a stimulating academic environment. It combines the family atmosphere of a small school, of about 100 pupils, with the outstanding resources of Monmouth School for boys aged 11 to 18.

Drawing applicants from a variety of local independent and maintained schools, entry to the school is subject to the outcome of an informal, untimed baseline assessment that takes place in March. The Head of the Grange is very happy to look at a boy's work in advance of any personal assessment to give parents guidance as to whether their son is likely to flourish were they to join the school.

The success record of Grange applicants to Monmouth School is very high, with a significant number achieving academic and music scholarships and sports awards. The Grange provides an excellent foundation for future achievement and develops personal qualities of confidence, independence and social conscience. Expectations are high and the boys are encouraged to push the boundaries of their learning.
