Grange v Llandaff

U11 Bs

On Friday 27 November the under 11Bs played at Llandaff Cathedral School.

It was a cold, damp day and conditions were bad. The Grange started strongly with Charlie running through open space to score our first try. Llandaff tried to come back but the Grange forward tackled their men and pushed them out of play which resulted in a Grange lineout of which Charlie pushing the ball back to Will, who passed it along the line to James on the wing, who ran to score our second try.

Llandaff then came back and poor talking by our backs resulted in their first try. Thomas then started for The Grange and passed to Ross who ran through the Llandaff players to score the third try.

Again, The Grange started strongly with a ball being passed to Lucas who cleverly passed the ball out to Will, who ran through open space to score the fourth try.

At this point the Ref blew for half- time.

In the second half, with Llandaff having made a few changes, started but one player was soon taken down and a ruck was formed. The ball was sent out to Lucas who scored our next try.

This half also saw two more tries. James being presented the ball in a ruck, ran along the wing scoring our penultimate try. Llandaff tried to come back but were pushed back due to poor passing resulting in a scrum for The Grange.

So The Grange used this opportunity and Oliver ran and slid over the line to score our final try.

The final score was 45-5. The man of the match was Ross due to effective tackling.   

U11 As

Llandaff received the kick off and ran straight into our defence. They passed the ball out to their winger who had a run down the wing; the ball was ripped off the opposition. The ball was passed along the back line to Alfie, he had a great run down the wing and scored the first try of the game, this try was not converted.

The Grange received kick off but unfortunately it was knocked on, so it was a scrum down to Llandaff. The scrum hald passed the ball blind side to the winger who dived over the line to make the score 7-5 to Llandaff.

Llandaff received the kick off and once again it was knocked on, so it was a scrum to The Grange. Zelig and Calum passed the ball to Alfie who once again showed his speed and crossed the line to score his second try of the game, this try was converted.

The Grange was in possession of the ball, James was passed the ball and had a good run down the wing and popped it off to Zelig and he ran through the defence and scored, this try was converted.

The Grange received kick-off but unfortunately lost the possession in the ruck. The ball was immediately turned over and passed along the line to Luke who ran down the pitch and slid over for the fifth try of the match, and this try was converted.

The score at half-time was 26-7 to The Grange.

Once again The Grange was in possession of the ball, Oscar ran through the defence and popped the ball off to Max who had a great run and then gave the pass to Zelig who ran down the wing and slid over for his second try of the match, this try was converted.

In the last couple of minutes of the game the ball was passed to Alfie who was tackled and popped it to Luke and he broke through the line of defence and dived over the line to score the last try of the match.  

The score at the end of the match was 40-7 to The Grange. Man of the match was Zelig for great tackling and great running with the ball, well done Zelig!
