Colder than the Artic!Colder than the Artic, Colder than dry ice, Colder than an iceberg , Colder than frozen peas, That are minus twenty degrees, Colder than an ice-cream, Or a James Bond Ice Station scene Colder than a frozen lake, Colder than ‘ice’-ing on a cake, Colder than snow falling on the ground, Colder than December on Plymouth Sound. Colder than an eskimo’s nose, That’s very nearly froze! Colder than an ice lolly by far, That’s how cold my little brother’s feet are! By Sam |
Faster than…Faster than a racehorse racing, Faster than a cheetah sprinting, Faster than a hound chasing, Or the daily newspapers printing. Faster than the economy spinning, Or on the trading floor, Faster than my dog running, Than he’s ever run before. Faster than a whirlwind whirling, Faster than a wheel turning, Faster than a fire burning, As it destroys the countryside Faster than a rocket blasting, Faster than a firework lasting, That’s how fast my friends eat. Long ago the animals were grey, except the birds, because the creator had had a hard day and needed a rest, so he had forgotten about colouring. This was at the beginning of time when there were no people.
One day a little baboon sat on the tree and looked at the birds and said, “I wish everyone had lovely colours,” and he got some paint. He found blue paint, red paint, black paint and the rest of the colours. He found the paint from the puddles where a rainbow had landed. Then the baboon realised that he needed a paintbrush so he asked the peacock for a feather.
The cheeky ape waited for all the animals to go to sleep and then set to work. He gave the cheetah yellow with black;
the tiger, orange and black stripes; the zebra, black and white stripes, but the elephant was too big so had to stay grey. When the animals woke up and saw their reflection, they were frightened. They saw the ape holding a feather with the paint so they stampeded and their feet hit the baboon’s bottom scraping all the fur and skin off his bottom leaving it bright red and his face fell in the blue paint.
That is how animals got their colours and the baboon came to have a blue face and a bright red bottom. The hyenas laughed and laughed and are still laughing today.
