Welsh Junior Rapidplay Championships
Well done to the thirteen boys who took part in this important event at the Cathedral School at end of January:
In the U8s Oliver came 1st, with Che 5th, & Michael scoring 2 ½ points.
In the U10s Oliver came 2nd, with a group of 5 just a point behind: Greg, Gus, Henry, Sam & James.
In the U12s Nyasha came 2nd, with Jamie & Harold 4th=, & Rhydian ½ a point behind.
All 13 Grange boys qualified for the Grand Prix Final in Monmouth on the 21st of May.
English Primary Schools’ Chess Association Counties championships
South Wales junior players enjoyed a triumphant time in the South Wales and South Western Counties Team Championship, held in Bishop Hedley School, Merthyr Tydfil in January.
Nyasha, Jamie, Harold, Henry, Rhydian & Matthew & Owain represented the South Wales U11 team against Somerset, Wiltshire & Devon. South Wales came 1st so all boys won a medal!
Oliver N, Sam, James & Philip were in the younger team that came 2nd in the U9 event.
