World Chess Championships

Good luck to Nyasha as he sets off for the World Youth 2010 Chess Championships to be held at Porto Carras, northern Greece, from the 19th to the 31st of October.

Nyasha, who is in his final year at The Grange, has been chosen to represent Wales having competed at the European Youth Chess Championships in Mureck, Austria in August.  He gave a good account of himself in nine games against some of the best young talent in Europe. Coach Kevin Thomas said , “We are all very proud of the progress that Nyasha is making: to get two wins and four draws at his first outing at this level was a great achievement. We wish Nyasha every success in Greece at the World Youth Championships.  It is a huge honour for him to be representing Wales at this highest level and a fantastic experience for him to meet children from over 80 countries who all share his passion for chess. ”
