Kate Humble, the popular TV wildlife presenter, gave an enthusiastic and entertaining presentation to the pupils at The Grange, Monmouth Preparatory School, at their assembly last Friday. She outlined what her work entails and what the boys might like to consider if they are thinking of a career in television. She then got them to re-enact her encounter with a very rare six- gilled shark in the Cayman Islands. Boys were used to play all the parts from the sneaky conger eel to the show-off shark and the myriad of fish and sea creatures grabbing at the bait. It was enormously energetic and there was much hilarity as Kate guided the boys through the exciting encounter.
Kate then accompanied the Grange Gardening Club team to the school wildlife garden where she gave advice about the best place to position the bird feeding station and the nesting box with camera.
Mrs Thomas, Head of the Grange, said, “Kate’s boundless enthusiasm was contagious. She clearly has a great passion for what she does and she transmitted that to the boys in spades! It was a brilliant presentation and we are very grateful to her for finding the time in her very busy schedule to come and see us.”
