Pictured are five pupils from The Grange, Monmouth Preparatory School taking part in the Monmouth Santa Fun Run on Sunday 6 December.

Organised by the Spirit of Monmouth running club, this annual Fun Run was 2km long and raised over £2,000 for local charities.
The undefeated Grange Conker Champion this year is Jack with the help of his wonder conker called ‘Nut–Cracker’.

Jack is pictured in front of the famous Grange conker tree. Some think that Mrs Elaine Thomas, Head of the Grange, chose the site of the new school because it was right next to the Monmouth School splendid sports facilities and that you can walk straight out to the beautiful Wye Valley. However, the boys have a sneaking feeling that it was because of the magnificent horse chestnut tree that grows in the Grange play area and supplies superb conkers!
The School's after school cookery course has been a great success this term, with pupils loving the opportunity to improve their culinary skills. So far, the boys have made pizzas, cupcakes and shortbread, and are looking forward to trying some new recipes over the next few weeks.

Since moving to their wonderful new premises on Hadnock Road, The Grange, Monmouth Preparatory School has established a thriving Gardening Club which is very popular with the boys.

As well as having a wildlife garden and pond, the boys are growing vegetables in raised beds and have so far enjoyed eating home-grown alfalfa sprout, radishes and lettuces. They also enjoy propagating seeds in their mini greenhouse and growing tomatoes on the decking outside their classrooms.
The new Grange, Monmouth Preparatory School, now situated in a brand new building at Hadnock Road, is soon to be put on the map! Mr Simon James from Ordnance Survey recently spent the day measuring out the school and the new Monmouth School Sports Pavilion. Boys from Year 3 took the opportunity to ask Mr James about his work. As part of their geography lesson, Year 3 students are studying the local area using an Ordnance Survey Explorer Map in preparation for a walk later on in the week. On his laptop Mr James showed the boys how the map looks at present and what measurements and details he had to take to make the map accurate and up-to-date for the future.
