Alliteration

One white woman wandered to work weirdly.
Two talking tigers took turtles to trees.
Three thoughtful thinkers threw thistles.
Four fat frogs found friends in fog.
Five funny firemen fished farmers from farms.
Six sad snakes sang songs stupidly.
Seven silly socks sucked smelly sweets.
Eight angels aimlessly aimed at apes.
Nine nasty nurses nicked noses.
Ten tractors towed tigers to tennis.
Eleven eagles eat eels’ eggs.
Twelve tottering toddlers talked to tortoises.
Thirteen thrifty thieves threw thirty things.

Horrible Science Production

We drove to Cardiff and arrived at the Horrible Science Show. There were four actors. The characters were Professor Buzoff who runs the shocking electricity zone, Professor Enlarge who runs the Fatal Forces zone, Professor Wonderwhy who runs the Microscopic Monsters zone and Billy Miller.

The show started with the professors introducing themselves. Then Billy Miller started asking questions. The scientists answered the questions very briefly. Then T.I.M a computer (who was the intelligent machine), was going to release all the horrible things into the outer world. Billy Miller had to understand science to prevent this happening.

First he had to learn about bacteria and how they are sometimes good and sometimes bad. He also learned that some bacteria can divide themselves into sixteen million forms. Following this he had to go into the shocking electricity zone. He had to open a door somehow. He did it by making a circuit which powered the motor and it opened the door. We all had to help him with instructions.

Next he had to go into Frankenstein’s laboratory. He met Monster Boy, who told him how some disgusting bugs can help you with body problems. Then Billy saw how long your intestines are (they are about seven metres long!)

After that there was an interval and we were given a penguin chocolate bar and 3D glasses (They called them boggle goggles). After the interval we saw what happened when you eat some thing. It lands in your tummy. Your stomach’s content colour is green! Then we saw how many germs there are in your bathroom, there are loads!

Now we went to the fatal forces zone. Billy had to stop T.I.M from increasing the force of gravity. Billy had to push a button and pull the lever. Then all the professors told him the safety points he needed to remember to go through the Thunderdome. He had to duck when there was something tall near him because the lightning may hit him and smash the tall thing down on him. Following this he went into T.I.M’s brain and pressed the ‘Shut Down’ button, but it didn’t work. Finally T.I.M asked Billy three safety questions, which we helped him answer and, on the last one, he just got it in time to stop T.I.M.

My Favourite Meal

In my family, on our birthday, we choose our favourite meal for supper. This year I chose fresh tuna steaks with lemon dressing, crispy fried potatoes and a green salad. For pudding I chose chocolate profiteroles.

Mummy and Daddy cooked my birthday supper in the kitchen and we ate it at the other end of the kitchen. It is exciting to watch because Daddy cooks the tuna on the griddle. This sits across the gas hob and when it is very hot and smoking the tuna is put on top and seared very quickly. It sizzles and smells delicious and you flip it over to cook the other side.

When my plate arrives there is a wonderful fishy smell. The tuna steak is quite thick and the outside has turned creamy white with crunchy brown or black lines from the griddle, but when you cut it, inside it is still all pink and looks almost raw! We eat it with a dressing made from fresh lemon juice, olive oil and chopped parsley. The sauce is a bright, yellowy green colour. In fact the whole plate is bright and colourful because the fried potatoes are crunchy and golden and the crispy salad is fresh grass green with darker cubes of cucumber and blood red cherry tomatoes.

I love this meal. It is juicy and tangy, crispy and crunchy all at once!

Our Visit to Techniquest

When we went to Techniquest, we lined up and walked in and the first thing we saw was a ball that was being help up by air pressure. I found a thing that you had to spin and when you span it, the surface would change like the atmosphere on the Earth’s surface.

There was another thing that you turned a lever and there was a board that if you were on the other side you could push some little sticks that went through the other side. There were also some weights that you had to pull ropes and the ropes would make the weights go up, but the weights weren’t very heavy. The weights were in big red bags. When they dropped this forced out air which shot a tennis ball into the air.

There was another area which was a water area and there was a tube that when you turned a wheel it picked up some water and it went into a bowl where it would go down another pipe that lead under the place where you had to make a dam across a water flow. I got half way across it. On the other side there was a place where you could play with boats. There was also a button on another water thing. If you pressed it water would squirt out of a tube and it would go into buckets at the top of the wall. There would be a hole at the bottom of the bucket which went into a cart.

Next was a glass box which was about two metres long and one metre high. In it was a massive marble run. You twisted the handle, a metal tube started going up when you twisted the handle it moved metal balls up a slope. The whole thing started moving. There was a part where it went straight down and did a ‘loop the loop’ and it came round really fast. After that there was a massive gap in the track where the marble went through the air and landed on the track.

Upstairs there was an exhibit with a steering wheel on either side. There was a track in the middle where you had to race cars round it.

The shop was also very good. There were lots of crystals and fossils. Then we headed back to school and I bought three crystals.
