The Grange is participating in the Friends@YOG Twinning Programme for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. The Grange is the only primary school in Great Britain selected by the British Olympic Association to twin with a Singapore school, in this case the Anglo-Chinese School (Junior). This week, The Grange welcomed pupils and staff from the Anglo-Chinese School, who will be spending time at the school as part of the exchange programme. Pupils and staff from The Grange will travel to Singapore in the summer.

Our visitors from Singapore and Grange boys from the host families enjoyed a great day out, including a family picnic, at White Castle. Considering our visitors had arrived only the evening before, following a 14 hour flight, their levels of energy were impressive!

Our Singapore friends were taken to the top of the Kymin to get a bird’s eye view of Monmouth, having been for a look around the town the day before.

Our visitors from Singapore, their host families, and all involved with the exchange, tucked into a splendid meal prepared by our own school caterers at a farewell dinner held at the Pavilion. We were delighted that Headmaster, Dr Connors, and Mrs Connors were able to join us along with Mrs Kathryn Koh, Principal of ACS(J) Singapore and Miss May Po Lee who has being liaising with Head of the Grange, Mrs Elaine Thomas, throughout he exchange. Mrs Koh and Miss Lee, who had only arrived in the UK that morning, were able to spend a day at Monmouth School and The Grange before travelling on to London with the rest of the party. Those wishing to find out more about Anglo-Chinese School (Junior) Singapore should visit its website, www.acsjunior.sg

Harvey gets into role aboard SS Great Britain, Bristol. The boys also visited Clifton Suspension Bridge in their study of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

We say farewell to our Singapore visitors. Teachers pictured are Mrs Kathryn Koh, Principal of ACS(J) Singapore, Miss Lee, Miss Tan and Mr Nga as well as Mrs Elaine Thomas, Head of the Grange, and Deputy Head of the Grange, Mrs Sue Wilderspin.
