PII trip to St Briavels Castle

March 23, 2015

PII Trip to St Briavels CastlePII enjoyed a great day at St Briavels Castle. They had a tour and learnt of its importance as a hunting lodge for King John and how it was the centre of administration for the Royal Forest of Dean. They were shown the elaborate defensive system that made the castle virtually impenetrable to attackers. In the afternoon they learnt how to fire arrows and make bread, which they then ate at a medieval banquet that rounded off the day.
