STEM visit for young engineering students

June 17, 2017

Boys from The Grange and girls from Inglefield House were lucky enough to be given the opportunity of viewing the supersonic car Bloodhound SSC which is aiming to smash the world land speed record and reach 1000mph! The car was on display at Reid Lifting in Chepstow and we invited along some of our budding scientists and engineers.

We were all given a tour of the factory and got to see some engineering processes at work, including a lathe which cost £700000. Wearing goggle, hard hats and hi-viz jackets made everyone feel like proper engineers and we particularly enjoyed a presentation aimed at getting young boys and girls into engineering in the future. The boys were the fantastic science quiz team and Dr Wall picked them as a way of saying thank you for all of their enthusiasm in science through the year.
